A sickly week

Sigh... Mummyme has been sick for the past week, basically from Monday through Friday. It was the same fever and breast infection thingy... at that time really feel like giving up breastfeeding. But of cos didn't la, still continue, told myself I must at least bf Joian till he is 6 months old. JIA YOU, mummyme, only 2 more months to go!!! However I really want to bf him as long as I can, shall see how ba...
Sigh... so I wasted my one precious week, cos I'm starting work the next week, feel like not doing enough for my darling yet :(
Ooops, btw I bought pacifier for Joian yesterday. I realised if he has his feed, and yet couldn't sleep, but awhile later when he feels like sleeping, he would still want to latch on for comfort. Then after latching on, if he still couldn't sleep, he would have hiccups. I read from somewhere that one of the reasons for hiccups is overfeeding, so I'm afraid that he overfeeds himself, hence bought the pacifier. Purpose is to use it when he wants to sleep, and also to see if he can sleep on his own.
We tried yesterday night. After feeding him from bottle, he still didn't sleep. And when we put him on his bed, he started crying. I knew he wanted to latch on, so I gave him the pacifier. For a while his eyes were really closing, but cos I was beside him waiting to see if he would sleep and he saw me staring at him, so his eyes opened real big (you know know big his eyes are), and he pulled the pacifier out. That is, end of first trial of pacifier. Hence I latched him on and he slept...

Weekend stay at sis's place

Hubby went for his staff retreat at Bintan this weekend, so I brought Joian over to my sis's place for a stay. Initially we planned to go for a picnic at the Botanic Garden, but due to the rain, we stayed put at her house. In the evening we went to this nice cosy pub, Liquid Kitchen, for our dinner. We ended our day at NTUC Finest to do some groceries shopping.
Joian was still shy with my sis, however he was doing fine with my sis's MIL. She was able to carry him and even make him laugh.
The next morning, sis and I brought our darlings for Mac breakfast. We had an enjoyable BF :)

My sis and I also did manga face drawing. Check them out, you know who they are?

Botak Jo

Hubby and I brought Joian to have his hair shaved today. When the lady started to shave Joian's hair, I almost cried, dunno why...
Joian didn't cry at first, I thought that was very brave of him. But when the lady started to shave his hair at the back, he started to cry. Luckily he only cried, and didn't struggle, so I didn't have to grab on to him much.

Bedtime story

I have been telling bedtime story to Joian for the past 2 days, cos he didn't want to sleep after the last feed. The only story which I could just tell offhand (and could make up some details) is "Three Little Pigs".
The first time when I told him the story, he was listening to me attentively until I realised hubby was peeking at us from the doorway. Thus Joian lost his interest in my story.
The second time I told him the story, he also listened to me in the first half, but starting giggling, but I managed to finish the story.
Tonight (which was just now), he also did't want to sleep, so I lie beside him, making him face me, and started the "Three Little Pigs". I was really happy, cos today was the 3rd time, and I realised he would really listen to me :) And surprisingly, I noticed that his eyelids started to get heavy, and slowly...... he slept while listening to the story!! Ha.... I am so proud of my darling and myself, hahahahahaha!!!
Hmm... will see if the bedtime story still works tomorrow.

PS. What I meant by listening to me is that Joian would look at me, and he didn't make a single noise ;p

Flipping flipping

Few days ago, our little darling started to flip from back to his tummy. For a few times he was able to flip from his tummy back to facing up. Wow.. . we were amazed by his movements :) I managed to take a few pics tonight. Can see some of his struggling expressions :P

Special uncle :)

Today Joian and I sent hubby to work. We brought Joian into the office. Surprisingly, Joian allowed hubby's colleague to carry him. He was comfortably carried by the uncle. He didn't cry at all. This colleague sure has a way with baby :)

认人专家

Our darling is a 认人专家. Well... what I meant is he only recognises hubby and me. He wont allow others to carry him, he would simply cry... Even when we are carrying him, and others look at him, he would frown then followed by his cries... Guess we have to bring him out more often.

Yum yum :P

Little book activity

Just before Joian's morning nap, I saw him playing with the little book which I always leave at the side of his bed. Today was the first time he got hold of the book himself. So I quickly took some pictures.
Nowadays he likes to put his toys in his mouth. But today cos I was standing by his bed, so the moment he wanted to 'taste' his book, I would say out his name, and told him not to 'taste'. Surprisingly, he seemed to understand me, wow... so he did not 'taste' his book at all :)

Mum has discharged from hospital. We hired a helper to help out in the morning. Sis and I had scheduled ourselves to help out in the evenings. However Pa has asked the helper to come in the afternoon. He told us that he could cook and take care of my sis in the morning. He also told us that my sis and I need not go back everyday, said it would be a waste of petrol and that he usually would be home around 7.

Sis and I never thought that Pa would involve himself so much in Mum's recovery period. I think we likely wont know he could care so much if not for mum's opertation.

"Daddy was off today, so he and mummy brought me to Ikea. They had their lunch there. Ikea has such good environment that I slept through the whole afternoon there. In the evening, we went to Tampines mall. As it was rather crowded, mummy didn't want to use the stroller, so she carried me in my carrier."

Glued to TV

Nowadays, darling likes to watch shows on TV.
See how focussed he is.
He would move his head about till he could find a comfortable position :)

Hubby bought a small remote helicopter few days ago. Today we decided to fly it at the open field near our place, at the same time to take a look at the newly open swimming pool. Hubby and I were excited about the pool. It has slides, we can't wait for Joian to play there :P
After seeing the new pool, we went to fly the helicopter. However the wind was too strong. The moment hubby let go of the heli, it went crashing on the field, ha.... but it was fun, we tried a few times, then decided to give up, and turn our focus to photo taking.

Mum had her operation yesterday, so Ah B (my youngest sis) came to stay with me while mum is hospitalised. Looking after sis and Joian is no easy task, although my sis doesn't require much attention. However I think because she is in a new environment, so she is a little dependent on me.
Now I know we really take our mum for granted, really for granted. Mum used to look after my nieces when my sisters went to work. Now she is looking after Joian when I return to school. She is always looking after 2 persons at one time, my youngest sis and a baby. And she never complains. So these few days when I look after both Joian and Ah B, sometimes I feel frustrated, but when I think of my mum, I told myself: Ma is old, yet she has no complaint, why should I?

Must have hurt...

Hubby looked after Joian the whole day today while I went to visit my mum at the hospital, and also to fetch my sis from her centre. Really thank him and appreciate him, cos he sacrificed his sleep to look after Joian (he only came home from work in the morning).
When I reached home from the hospital, I asked hubby to put Joian on the gym mat, so that he could have his dinner. And I was busy ensuring that my sis didn't spill food on the table, that I didn't realise that Joian had turned on his side and fell off from the gym mat (we place a small mattress beneath the gym mat). Before I knew it, I heard his cries and turned to see him lying on his back, on the floor, crying very loudly... we both felt very heart pain... We had removed the small mattress and decided to get those ABC styrofoam puzzle mats. Joian had a painful way of learning how to turn... :(
